Questions parents ask

More on the support page.

Is Chickling free?

Yes. Chickling is free to download and use, with no ads and no subscription. Logging, the calendar, alarms, the Apple Watch app, partner sharing, widgets and CSV export are all free. Chickling Plus is an optional one-time purchase for twins and siblings, longer trends, growth curves, the milk stash, the PDF report and app icons.

Does Chickling need an account?

No. There is no sign-up and no login. Chickling saves to the iCloud account already on your iPhone, so there is nothing to create and no password to remember.

Where is my data stored?

On your iPhone and in your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). Hanlon Digital runs no server and cannot see your entries. If you reinstall the app, your log comes back from iCloud.

Can my partner see the log?

Yes, if you invite them. Share your baby from Settings with Apple’s iCloud sharing (Messages, Mail or a link). Your partner needs Chickling and their own Apple ID. You both see every entry, and a feed timer started on one iPhone shows on the other.

Does Chickling work offline?

Yes. Every entry is saved on your iPhone first, so logging, timers and alarms work with no signal. Changes sync to iCloud and to your partner when you are back online.

Does Chickling work with Apple Watch?

Yes. The Apple Watch app (watchOS 11 or later) logs feeds, nursing sides, bottles, diapers and sleep. You set the bottle amount with the Digital Crown, and a watch face complication shows when baby last ate, such as “Fed 2h ago”.

Can I log a feed after the fact?

Yes. Enter nursing time per side or as a total, and set the time the feed actually happened. If you use a feeding schedule, tap a planned feed to record when baby really ate.

Is Chickling medical advice?

No. Chickling is a record-keeping tool. It does not diagnose, predict or grade anything. Talk to your pediatrician about any concern.
